 CMI Competition Corner – First Quarter 2010

As we get into 2010 we have sever competitions that will be happening in January, February, and March.  We will have packing parties for those interested in entering these competitions.  Information about the packing parties and detailed information on each competition will be on our web site and will be sent out via email.

January 2010 -

Wizard of SAAZ Home Brewed Beer Competition: January 16^th

The Wizard of SAAZ Home Brewed Beer Competition will be held on January 16^th. 

These are the beer styles that will be judged -

American Ale – American Pale, American Amber, American Brown

Stout – Dry Stout, Sweet Stout, Oatmeal Stout, Foreign/Export Stout, American Stout, Russian Imperial Stout

IPA – English IPA, American IPA, Imperial IPA

Belgian Strong Ale – Belgian Blonde, Belgian Dubbel, Belgian Tripel, Belgian Golden Strong, Belgian Dark Strong

Amber/Dark Lagers – Vienna Lager, Oktoberfest, Dark American Lager, Munich Dunkel, Schwarzbier

The 2010 Upper Mississippi Mashout: January 29^th and 30^th

The 2010 Upper Mississippi Mashout will be held on January 29^th and 30^th.  The ninth annual UMMO will be featuring the beers and food of England and Scotland.

Entries accepted: December 28^th, 2010 - January 18^th, 2010.  Entries must be received by January 18^th, 2010.  For detailed information please see:  http://www.mashout.org.

February 2010 -

The 2010 Homebrew at the W.E.B. Competition: February 20^th and 21^st

This event will be held on February 20^th and 21^st. Best of Show and Organizers' Choice announced at the World Expo of Beer© in May, 2010 and we are thrilled to announce that the beer selected as Best of Show will again be brewed by and served on tap at the renowned Sullivan's Black Forest Brew Haus of Frankenmuth, Michigan!

Entry deadline is Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 5:00 pm.  Late entries will neither be judged nor returned. Entries should be shipped to the address below and will be accepted between January 18, 2010 and February 6, 2010.  For detailed information please see: http://www.crhbc.com/competition.php.

March 2010 -

Bockfest 2010: March 6^th

Bockfest event will be held Satuday Marth 6^th.  The entry deadline for the Bock-only Homebrew Competition is Friday, February 26^th.  For detailed information please see: http://www.bockfest.com.

The Drunk Monk Challenge: March 13^th and 14^th

The Drunk Monk Challenge will be held on March 13^th and 14^th.  Entries will be accepted between February 28^th to March 7^th.  For detailed information please see: http://www.knaves.org/DMC/index.htm.

Bluebonnet Brew-off:  March 19^th and 20th

The Bluebonnet Brew-off will be held on March 19^th and 20^th.  This competition is the world’s largest single site competition.   Entries will be accepted between January 17^th and February 25^th.  For more detailed information please see: http://www.bluebonnetbrewoff.com

National Homebrew Competition 1^st Round: April 3^rd – 25^th
